Richard Ward
Richard Ward is a trombonist, conductor and educator from Yorkshire. Brass playing has been part of his family for generations, stretching back to at least the 1880s.
He has performed with leading ensembles including the London Symphony Orchestra and alongside artists such as Dua Lipa, rapper Nas and DJ Pete Tong. He has played on film and television scores and more than thirty West End musicals.
As a conductor his work includes apperences with BBC Concert Orchestra and Philharmonia Orchestra, a collaboration with the rock band Mogwai at the BBC Radio 6 Music Festival and commercial recording projects.
Richard has taught at the Royal College of Music Junior Department since 2018 and was previously Head of Brass at the University of Huddersfield. He has developed and delivered community, learning and participation projects, including co-creating the education initiative ‘Brass Tracks’, which won the ‘Outstanding Musical Collaboration’ award at the London Music Awards.
